Frequently asked questions about rally plates

Where does the number plate go on the car?

Usually, the competition rules or the organiser specify where the plate should be placed and how big it should be. Please let us know the size and position when you make your request. We print according to your specifications; we do not set the rules.

How do I attach the panel without damaging the paintwork?

The plates are supplied with pre-drilled holes, so that you can fit them to a bracket or an existing fixing point rather than directly onto the paintwork. The type of fixing suitable for your car depends on the model and what the regulations permit. Please agree in advance which fixing materials are included, as this is not specified as standard.

Can you record a whole series of tracks in one go?

Yes, that’s the standard procedure for an organiser. You provide a single layout plus the list of numbers, and we print each plate with its own number. That way, the sponsor banner remains identical across the entire pitch.

Is the panel weatherproof?

Polystyrene is listed in our material data sheet as suitable for outdoor use and is PVC-free. Forex is not listed as such and is primarily intended for indoor use. So, for an event that is going ahead regardless of the weather, you should choose polystyrene.

What’s the difference between these and car stickers?

A rally plate is a separate, sturdy plate that you fit to the car and remove again after the race, bearing the number for that particular race. Car stickers are applied directly to the bodywork and remain in place. If you’re competing in a series of races with changing numbers, the plate is more practical.

What thickness should I choose?

Polystyrene is available in 1, 1.5, 2 and 3 mm thicknesses; Forex in 2, 3, 5, 10 and 19 mm. The thinner the sheet, the lighter it is, but also the quicker it will flex in the wind. Let us know how the sheet will be fixed, and we’ll help you decide on the thickness.

My ride is this weekend. Will that still be possible?

Urgent bookings are part of our day-to-day work, so this is something we can discuss. An additional charge may apply for urgent bookings. Please state the date of the match straight away in your enquiry.

Can I supply the design myself?

That’s possible. We check every file for format, transparency flattening, outline paths and bleed before it goes to production. If you don’t have a print-ready file, our design team will prepare one for you based on your briefing. Rally plates are not available as ready-made items in the ordering module, so the price will be provided in a quotation.

How much does a set of rally plates cost?

Rally plates are not listed as a standard option in the ordering module, as the quantity, the plate type and the numbering vary from one event to the next. Please specify the quantity and the number series, and we will work out the total for you.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From a single sheet, although in a competition it’s always a run. With a run, the price per sheet drops significantly, as the setup is only done once.

What about the environmental aspect?

Polystyrene is PVC-free, whereas Forex is not, and both have an Ecoscore of 1. For a display that can be disposed of after the weekend, polystyrene is the better choice.

Description Rally plates

Are you looking for rally plates featuring your start number, for a rally or a classic car run? Creafor prints them individually or as a complete set for the entire field of participants. An organiser usually orders all the numbers in one go, with the same layout and only the number differing, so that the field looks uniform at the start. A participant only orders their own, for example if their previous plate didn’t survive a run. The plates are light and sturdy, and the drill holes are pre-drilled so you can fit them to the car without having to improvise. Polystyrene is specified in the material datasheet for outdoor use and is PVC-free, so it is the safest choice for a race that goes ahead even in the rain. If you would like the number or sponsor logos applied directly to the bodywork, without a plate, then you’ve come to the right place at car stickers.

Materials for Rally plates

Polystyrene, 1 to 3 mm

The sheet is designated for outdoor use and is PVC-free. White, up to 1000 by 1400 mm. The lightest option, which makes a difference when loading a vehicle.

Forex, 2 to 19 mm

A foamed PVC sheet, available in white and in a range of colours, up to 2050 by 3050 mm. Sturdier, ensuring the sheet will last a whole season.

Every record has its own track

The rest of the layout remains the same throughout the entire series. We set the numbers in a continuous run, so a series of forty takes hardly any more time to prepare than a series of four.

Finish

  • Weather-resistant finish
  • Holes are pre-drilled to make the panel easy to fit
  • Maximum 1000 x 1400 mm in polystyrene, 2050 x 3050 mm in Forex

On the car

  • Secure using suction cups or a window clamp; do not use adhesive on the paintwork

  • Ecoscore 1 out of 5
