Frequently asked questions about lifesizers
What is a lifesizer?
It is a life-size figure cut out of a sheet of material, usually a person but it could just as easily be a product. A support is attached to the back or the bottom, so that the figure stands freely in the space.
What sort of photo do I need?
A full-length photograph, taken straight on and from the front, showing the person in full and with nothing in front of or behind them. Choose a plain background, such as a white or red wall. A minimum of 5 megapixels is sufficient; a modern mobile phone can easily achieve this.
Can a figure like that stay upright?
Yes. For the single-sided version, we fit a backrest at the rear; for the double-sided version, a footrest at the bottom, so that the figure looks good from both sides. In a busy area, it’s best to place it against a wall or in a corner.
Can a Lifesizer be left outside?
Our material data sheets list honeycomb board and cardboard as materials for indoor use. The old product information specifies Stadur Sign for outdoor use. Please therefore explicitly request an outdoor installation, and we will check which panel is available at that time.
Can I just have one made?
Yes, we can produce your life-size cut-outs from as little as one piece. We cut them out ourselves in Lokeren, so even a single copy for one evening is no problem.
What do I do with it after the party?
You can simply recycle a cardboard life-size cut-out with your paper and cardboard. That is precisely why customers rarely opt for a sturdier board for a one-off event.
What is the difference between this and a milling object?
A lifesizer is a life-size figure with a photograph attached to it, which stands upright with the aid of a support. A milled object is any milled shape – including letters, logos or decorative pieces – and does not necessarily have a support.
Do I need to choose one of the six sizes?
The ordering module shows six sizes, from mini to family, allowing you to quickly work out a price. If your photo or your space differs from these, we will cut it to the size you need.
What about the environmental aspect?
Reboard and cardboard score 5 and 4 out of 5 respectively and go in the waste paper bin. Stadur Sign scores 3 but lasts longer. For a one-night party, cardboard is the logical choice.

If you want to display a staff member, a guest or your own product in life-size form in your shop or at a party, a lifesizer is the perfect solution. We print your photo to size, cut it out along the outline and attach a support to the back, so that the whole thing stands freely on the floor without needing a wall or a rack. For a wedding reception or a grand opening, most customers opt for cardboard: it’s light and easy to move around, and afterwards you can simply recycle it with the paper and cardboard. If the figure needs to remain standing for longer or be more sturdy, a sturdier board is the better choice. Life-size figures are always cut to size, even if only one is required. Reboard, Stadur or cardboard sign
10, 16 or 25 mm Reboard for indoor use. 10 or 19 mm Stadur sign, as specified in our outdoor product information. 300-gram cardboard for lightweight designs, up to 75 by 105 cm.
