The EcoScore is our own assessment of the material’s environmental footprint, on a scale of 1 to 5. It says nothing about the quality, and the material must be recycled under the right conditions.

Frequently asked questions about printing on cork

Can cork be left outside?

We use cork for indoor applications. The product description does not list this material as suitable for outdoor use, so for a façade or a garden wall, you’d be better off choosing a different material. Please feel free to ask us which material would give a similar look in your particular case.

Will the colours remain visible on a brown background like that?

The brown cork colour always contributes to the final result; that is precisely the point of this material. If you want colours that do not get lost against that background, we will first print white and then the colour. It is also possible to print pure white, with or without full colour.

How thick is the cork you supply?

We supply natural cork in 3, 4, 5 or 6 mm as standard. The thickness chosen depends on the application: a floor underlay has different requirements to a wall panel, which needs to remain flat.

What is the difference between this and printing on wood?

Cork is soft, light and sound-absorbing, and its grain gives it a matt, natural appearance. Wood is harder, sturdier and has a distinct grain. Cork is usually chosen for acoustic purposes and as a gift, whilst wood is generally preferred for a sturdy board or panel.

Can I have a shape or some letters cut out?

Yes. As well as rectangles, we mill out special shapes and individual letters, and we drill holes to the diameter you require for fixing.

Will the panel be installed on site?

Creafor can handle delivery and installation using its own team. If you would prefer to fit the panels yourself, we will supply them cut to size and with the drill holes already in place.

Just how environmentally friendly is cork, exactly?

Cork is PVC-free and has been awarded an Ecoscore of 4 on Creafor’s own scale, which ranges from 1 to 5. The material data sheet itself identifies cork as the recycling stream for this material. We do not attach any label to it that is not mentioned in the data sheet.

Can I order a single item and see the price online?

Cork is not currently listed as an option in the ordering module, so we will quote a price on request. Please let us know the dimensions, thickness and quantity, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

How much does a printed cork panel cost?

Cork is available as an option in our ordering module, where you can enter your own dimensions and quantity and see the price straight away. For cut-out shapes and individual letters, we provide a bespoke quote.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From a single item. You usually order coasters and placemats with a logo in sets, whilst wall panels are often ordered individually.

How wide can a cork panel be?

Up to 100 centimetres wide. For wider walls, we lay the material in several strips, positioning the joint where it won’t be noticeable.

Does cork really dampen sound?

Cork absorbs sound and insulates, so in an office or a catering establishment, a cork wall does more than just look good. If you’re primarily looking for acoustic benefits, felt is even more effective, particularly in 18 or 25 mm thicknesses.

Can cork also be used as a gift or a promotional gift?

Yes. Coasters, placemats and small panels featuring a logo are common. We mill them to shape and print them from a single piece.

Description Print on cork

Would you like a wall, a panel or a gift that feels warm and natural rather than smooth and printed? Then cork is the answer. Creafor prints directly onto cork, including with white ink, so that your design remains legible against the brown background whilst the texture of the material still shines through. You’ll find it on walls in showrooms and shops, in museums and at exhibitions, and on coasters and placemats featuring a logo. Cork also dampens sound and provides insulation, so in an office or a catering establishment, a cork wall does more than just look good. If you’re looking for the same natural look but in a harder and more robust material, take a look at print on wood. Cork is a product for indoor use; it is cut to size and has an Ecoscore of 4 on Creafor’s own scale of 1 to 5.

Materials for Print on cork

Natural cork, 3 to 6 mm

Available as standard in 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm, up to one hundred centimetres wide. The texture of the material remains visible throughout the print, something a smooth sheet never achieves.

In white ink

We print with or without white ink underneath or on top. With white underneath, your design remains legible on the brown background; without white, the ink shows through the cork.

Printing

  • Full-colour digital print, with or without white ink
  • Screen-printing, one colour at a time, for large print runs
  • PVC-free, with an Ecoscore of 4 out of 5 on our own scale

Cutting and application

  • Milling into a rectangle, a distinctive shape or individual letters
  • Drill holes to the required diameter
  • It dampens sound and insulates, so a cork wall does more than just look good
  • For indoor use, with delivery and installation by our team or by yourself
