The difference lies in the reverse side. A standard fabric allows some of the light to pass through, so you can make out faint outlines of what’s behind it. The black backing of a blackback fabric blocks that light. If you notice that your current fabric allows the wall or a window opening to show through, then this is the fabric you’re looking for.
No, this fabric is intended for indoor use. The material specification does not list it as a fabric suitable for outdoor use. If you need something to hang outside, please let us know when you place your order, as you will then need a different fabric.
We print up to 3 metres wide, with the length tailored to your frame. If you have a wall that is wider than 3 metres, the display will be divided across several panels and frames. Please provide us with the dimensions of the opening, and we will draw up a layout plan.
There is a silicone strip around the fabric – a thin rubber edge that fits into the groove in the aluminium profile. You push the strip into the groove by hand, starting at the corners and working towards the centre. No tools are required, and the fabric can be removed again later.
Those two do exactly the opposite. Blackback blocks the light and is illuminated from the front. A backlight fabric, on the other hand, lets the light through and is illuminated from behind, in a light box or on a light wall. If there is lighting behind your frame, you will need the backlight fabric.
Yes. It is made of polyester, is PVC-free and recyclable as polyester, with an Ecoscore of 1 to 2 out of 5. We can provide the material data sheet for a tender or an internal sustainability dossier.
Yes. The fabric is strong and crease-resistant, so you can remove it from the frame, fold it up and stretch it over the frame again the next time you set it up. That is also why many customers leave the frame in place and simply replace the fabric when the message changes.
That’s possible. Creafor has its own team who will come to your premises as agreed, including to hang the frames. For a loose canvas in a frame that’s already hanging, simply sending it to us is usually sufficient.
If your fabric is hung in front of a window, against a light-coloured wall or suspended freely in the room, with a standard fabric the surroundings will show through: a spotlight, a door frame, the texture of the wall behind it. A black-backed fabric prevents this. Creafor prints onto a 280-gram polyester fabric with a black backing, which prevents light from passing through and ensures the colours on the front remain deeper. The finish is matt, so spotlights and daylight do not reflect in the image. The canvas is fitted with a silicone strip and stretched into an aluminium frame, taut and without creases. If your canvas is hung against a solid wall and light shining through is therefore not an issue, a standard textile canvas and you’ll pay less.
