Frequently asked questions about parking signs

Can parking signs be left outside all year round?

That’s what they’re made for. Dibond is designed for signage that remains on display outdoors for a long time, whereas we tend to use polystyrene for short-term use or for events. So, for a permanent car park, Dibond is usually the choice.

Are the signs still legible at night?

Reflective film does the trick. It reflects the light from the headlights, so the sign stands out without you needing to add any extra lighting. Phosphorescent film – the ‘glow-in-the-dark’ sort – is an alternative.

Can each location be given its own number?

Yes. Please provide us with the list of numbers or names, and each sign will be custom-printed. Signs featuring just a name or a logo are also an option.

How are the signs fixed in place?

On a wooden or aluminium post, or fitted to a Heras fence. We drill holes to the diameter required by your mounting system and supply the fitting materials.

What is the difference between this and a warning sign?

A car park sign relates to the spaces themselves: numbers, reserved spaces and the parking rules on your premises. A safety sign relates to safety and prohibitions, from protective clothing to an emergency exit.

What does ‘excavating down to the black core’ mean?

With Dibond, we mill the text away right down to the dark core of the sheet. The letters are then set into the surface of the sheet itself rather than sitting on top of it, and this finish is extremely robust. It is a good choice for site numbers that need to remain in place for years.

Will you be putting the signs up in the car park?

Parking signs are best installed by a professional, and Creafor has its own team for this. We ensure the posts are straight and at the same height, so that a whole row of parking spaces really does look like a single, uniform row.

How much does a set of parking signs cost?

Our ordering module offers four types of parking signs: single-sided or double-sided, for loose or paved surfaces. Simply choose your type, enter the quantity, and you’ll see the price straight away, including posts. For engraved numbers or a different mounting method, we will provide a bespoke quote.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From a single sign, for example, the designated space for the company car. To cover an entire car park, order a set, and the price per sign will be reduced.

What is the largest size?

Up to 2050 at 4050 mm in Dibond. In practice, a parking sign is small: it is read at close range by someone who is already standing still.

Should I choose single-sided or double-sided?

Single-sided when the sign is positioned against a wall or a fence. Double-sided when it is positioned between two rows and can be read from both sides. Both options are available in the ordering module, each for loose or compacted ground.

What about the environmental aspect?

Dibond scores 1 out of 5 and is not PVC-free, but a parking sign made from Dibond lasts for years and is rarely replaced. For temporary parking at an event, Biprint is the PVC-free choice, with an EcoScore of 3 out of 5.

Description Parking signs

Would you like parking signs that assign a number to every space on your premises, or that reserve spaces for visitors, a company car or a charging point? Creafor has been manufacturing these signs for years, ranging from a single space number to a complete set for a business car park or a block of flats. As they are located outdoors and are often read in the dark, we like to use reflective film so that the headlights of an approaching car illuminate the sign. For a set that needs to last for years, Dibond is the standard choice, and the text can be engraved right down to the black core. If you’d like the sign mounted on a post or attached to a Heras fence, we’ll provide the fixings. If it’s not about parking spaces but about safety and restrictions on your premises, then you’ve come to the right place at signs.

Materials for Parking signs

Dibond 2, 3 or 4 mm

White, coloured or aluminium-coloured. The number plate for a vehicle that will remain in the car park for years, even if it gets knocked against.

Carved right down to the black core

The text is not printed but milled out of the top layer, so that the black colour of the core becomes visible. This never fades and is therefore the most durable option for room numbers.
