Creafor’s gallows boards

Gallows signs

The sign placed at the front of the garden when a property is put up for sale or to let.

For properties without windows or a flat façade to stick something onto, and for building plots without any buildings.

The components are interchangeable, so once a property is sold, the same sign is displayed at the next one.

Frequently asked questions about gallows signs

What is the difference between this and a V-board?

A V-sign stands on the ground or against a wall in the shape of an inverted V and does not require a post. A gallows sign hangs from a gallows, so it is positioned higher up and remains legible above a hedge or a low wall. You can find the classic model on our V-signs page.

And what’s the difference compared to a ‘For Sale’ sign in the window?

You can attach a property sign to a window or to the façade of the building itself using double-sided tape. A freestanding sign is placed in the garden and therefore does not require a mounting surface. For a property situated some distance from the street, this is often the only type that works.

Will the sign stay upright in the wind?

That’s what the ground pegs are for. They secure the garden signs against strong winds in loose soil, without the need for concrete or a base.

Can I fit the sign myself?

Yes. The frame usually arrives in sections, fits in a car and can be secured in loose ground using the ground peg supplied. If it’s a larger installation or a difficult location, our own team will come and install it.

What should I do once the property has been sold?

You stick a property sticker saying ‘sold’ or ‘let’ over the existing sign. The sign itself therefore remains in use and is then moved on to the next property.

Can I submit my own design?

Yes, you can submit your own design. The gallows is also available in a range of colours: standard white or coated in the RAL colour of your choice for your office.

Does the frame rust after being left outside over the winter?

No. The frame is made of aluminium and all the fastenings are made of stainless steel or plastic. Aluminium does not rust and is also recyclable.

Can I order individual parts separately?

Yes, all parts are interchangeable and available separately. This means you can replace a damaged panel or a bent tube individually, and you can extend an existing sign using a 700 x 180 or 670 x 180 mm extension panel.

How much does a gallows sign cost?

Gallows signs are not listed in the ordering module, as the price is determined by the combination of the sign size, colour and quantity. Please let us know how many you need, and we will calculate the price for you.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From a roll. Estate agents usually order a batch of them, which brings down the price per sign. You then replace the signs for each property.

What about the environmental aspect?

The aluminium frame will last for years and the parts can be ordered separately, so a damaged part doesn’t mean you need a whole new gallows. That’s more important here than the choice of sign.

Description Gallows signs

Are you looking for ‘For Sale’ or ‘To Let’ signs for a property that is on the market? Creafor supplies them as a complete set, including the signpost and a ground stake to secure the whole unit in loose soil. You can place the sign at the front of the garden or hang it on the façade, where it remains legible from both directions of the street, even above a hedge or a low wall. The frame usually comes in sections, so it fits in your car and you can assemble it on site. Aluminium and stainless steel do not rust, and all parts can be ordered separately, so you do not need to buy a completely new sign if it gets damaged. For signs to be attached to the building itself, please see immobiles. That sign is also known as a V-sign.

Applications of Gallows signs

Why gallows boards are ordered

  • A house with a front garden where there is no window available to put up a sign
  • A house behind a hedge, where the sign must be placed at the front, facing the street
  • A building plot or a plot of land for sale, with no building on it to attach anything to
  • A block of flats where the sign is attached to the façade rather than set into the ground
  • Commercial premises to let alongside a road, visible from both directions
  • An estate agent who keeps reusing the same signs on property after property
  • A sale that has been finalised, where a ‘Sold’ sign is stuck over the existing one
  • A garden with loose soil, where the soil peg supplied is sufficient
