Frequently asked questions about Priplak sheets

What thicknesses is Priplak available in?

We print at 500, 800, 1200 and 1800 microns. The size is 80 x 120 cm.

Is Priplak PVC-free?

Yes. Priplak is made of polypropylene and is collected as such.

Can Priplak be used outdoors?

Yes, for temporary use. The sign is weather-resistant, but for permanent signage, you should opt for Dibond.

Can we crease Priplak?

Yes. We crease the fold line, after which the sheet folds cleanly and consistently. That is why ring binders and boxes are made from prism board.

What colours are there?

White, opaline and a range of colours. Opaline is a translucent milky white.

How much does Priplak cost?

Priplak is not listed as a standard option in the ordering module. Please provide us with the dimensions, thickness and quantity, and we will work out the price for you.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Per sheet. In practice, Priplak is ordered in batches, and what matters most is how many pieces can be cut from a sheet measuring 80 by 120 cm.

What is the largest size?

A sheet measures 80 by 120 cm. Larger prints are therefore not available in Priplak; for these, please look at Biprint, which is from the same range but is supplied in sheet format.

Which thickness should I choose?

Five hundred microns for a tab or an insert, 800 for a folder, 1200 and 1800 for something that needs to stand upright or is often held in the hand.

Can Priplak be used outdoors?

It’s fine for temporary use. Polypropylene doesn’t absorb moisture, but at these thicknesses we’re talking about weeks rather than years. For a sign that’s going to be left in place, choose Biprint.

How do I submit my file?

As a full-size PDF, with a 3 mm bleed all round, and the cutting and creasing lines each on a separate layer. For a folder or sleeve, we will review the layout with you in advance.

Does the adhesive tape tear along the fold?

No, and that’s the difference between it and cardboard. Polypropylene retains its flexibility, even after being opened and closed hundreds of times. That’s why it’s used for folders and sleeves that are handled on a daily basis.

Description Priplak sheets

Priplak is a polypropylene sheet available in four thicknesses, ranging from 500 to 1800 microns, in a size of 80 x 120 cm. The sheet is PVC-free, flexible and tear-resistant, and remains legible after prolonged outdoor exposure. We print directly onto it, mill and crease it, and drill holes in it where necessary.

Priplak bridges the gap between paper and board. It is too stiff to be folded like paper and too thin to be considered a board, and that is precisely what makes it suitable for small jobs that need to last: plant labels that stay in the ground for a season, luggage tags, price tags, measuring sticks and the cover of a ring binder. For ceiling hangers and lightweight displays, the thickest version provides sufficient structure without the weight of a board. The opaline and coloured versions allow you to work with the material itself rather than with a flat surface of ink.

Priplak is and remains flexible. It is not the right material for a sign that needs to stand upright, not even in 1800 microns. The size is limited to 80 x 120 cm, so larger pieces will not fit on this sheet. For outdoor use, the sheet is suitable but not intended for permanent installation: for permanent outdoor signage, choose dibond, and for a temporary sign biprint.

Materials for Priplak sheets

Polypropylene in four thicknesses

From 500 microns – as thin as a sturdy card – to 1,800 microns, which already feels like a sheet of paper. Tear-resistant, and it doesn’t break along the fold.

White, opaline and colours

Opaline is the translucent version, through which light passes without you being able to see through it. There is also a range of solid colours.
