The eco-score is our own assessment of the material’s environmental footprint, on a scale of 1 to 5. It says nothing about quality, and the material must be recycled under the right conditions. Several materials may be listed on this page. We list the material with the lowest environmental footprint, not an average.

Frequently asked questions about milling workpieces

What shapes can you mill?

Basically, anything that can be drawn. Customers request animals, plants, chairs, tables, silhouettes and logos. The milling machine follows the outline specified in the file, so you decide on the shape.

What is the difference between these and milled letters?

Milled letters are letters made from Dibond, plexiglass, Forex or wood, designed to be hung on a façade or wall. A milled object is any other shape, usually made from cardboard or Forex, and typically intended for indoor use.

Can I have a print made?

Yes, with or without a print. Without a print, the panel retains its natural colour – white for honeycomb board, and white or coloured for Forex. With a print, the object features a full-colour image on its surface.

Can milled items be left outside?

The panels we use for this purpose are specified for indoor use. For outdoor installation, you should look for a different material; please let us know where the structure will be located.

How heavy is an object like that?

That depends on the sheet and its thickness. Honeycomb board was specifically developed to provide volume without adding weight, whilst foamed PVC is stiffer but heavier. When making a selection, we take into account how often you move the object.

How large can a milling object be?

The size of the panel determines the maximum dimensions: 2050 x 3050 mm for Forex and 1600 x 3000 mm for Reboard honeycomb board. For larger items, we will discuss together how to divide them up.

What do you need from me to get started?

A drawing or sketch showing the desired height. Our design team will convert this into a file ready for milling and will check the outline, dimensions and bleed in advance.

Can I work out the price myself?

Milled items are not listed as standard options in the ordering module, as each shape is different. Please provide us with the drawing, the quantity and the location where the item is to be installed, and we will work out the price for you.

How much does a milling job cost?

Milled items are not listed in the ordering module, as every shape is different. Please provide us with the outline and the required height, and we will work out the cost for you.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From a single piece upwards. For a run of items of the same shape, the price drops significantly, as the milling cutter only needs to be set up once.

Description Milling objects

If you have a shape in mind that isn’t available anywhere – an animal, a plant, a chair, a table or the silhouette of your corporate identity – we’ll mill it out of a sheet. You provide the drawing or our design team will create it for you, and the milling machine will follow the outline, with or without a print on the surface. This way, you’ll receive milled objects and decorative pieces for a trade fair stand, an exhibition or an interior that match your design, rather than a standard size from an online shop. If you work with multiple layers on top of each other, this creates a relief effect. The choice of sheet material depends on the size of the object and how often it will be assembled and dismantled: honeycomb board is lightweight and recyclable, whilst foamed PVC is harder. If you’re looking for a life-size cut-out figure, then you’ve come to the right place at lifesizers. If you’re looking for individual letters, please see milling letters.

Materials for Milling objects

Any shape that can be drawn

The outline is milled, so the shape is free-form. That is what sets this page apart: there is no product, just a drawing that takes shape.

Embossed, in layers

Several sheets stacked on top of one another to create an object with depth. In this way, a flat logo becomes an object that casts a shadow.

Reboard, Forex or cardboard

Reboard: white in 5 to 16 mm and brown in 10 to 25 mm, up to 1600 by 3000 mm. Forex: 2 to 19 mm, up to 2050 by 3050 mm. 300-gram cardboard for small, lightweight items.

Good to know

  • With or without a print on the surface
  • Ecoscore 1 to 5 depending on the panel, specified for indoor use
  • Installation on request

What we need

  • A drawing or a vector file showing the outline
  • The desired height, as this determines the size of the panel
  • Whether the object should stand, hang or lie down
