The eco-score is our own assessment of the material’s environmental footprint, on a scale of 1 to 5. It says nothing about quality, and the material must be recycled under the right conditions. Several materials may be listed on this page. We list the material with the lowest environmental footprint, not an average.

Frequently asked questions about sample boxes

How do I let them know what needs to go in the box?

Please specify the size of a single sample and the number of samples required. We will use this information to draw up the layout and the box to contain them. For larger projects, we will also come and take measurements on site, so that there are no disputes about the dimensions afterwards.

Will the samples remain intact during transport?

That is what the cut-out inserts are for: each steel component sits in its own recess and cannot slide against the others. Creafor dispatches finished goods itself every weekday throughout Europe.

Is the material PVC-free?

Yes. E-golf, ee-golf and priplak are all PVC-free. After use, the cardboard is disposed of with the paper; priplak is recycled as polypropylene; and the felt is made from 60 per cent PET bottles.

What is the difference between this and a steel box?

This page is about the box you send off: lightweight, made of cardboard or foam board, lined with felt to ensure the samples arrive intact. A sample case is the permanent case, made of plywood, which a sales representative carries with them for years. Whether you send it or carry it – that’s the difference.

Can I place a follow-up order if my product range changes?

Yes. The insert is cut to size for each sheet, so an extra compartment or a different sheet size means a modified cut-out within the same box. The print file is saved for future runs.

Can the box be left outside?

Cardboard and felt are materials intended for indoor use. Priplak can withstand outdoor conditions, but a sample box is designed as shipping and presentation packaging for indoor use.

Can I get a wooden version?

That’s possible; we do stock wooden cases. If you need to fit a full range of products inside and the box is going to be taken to a customer time and time again, then the steel box is better suited for that.

Is there a price shown in the order module?

No. The price of a sample box is calculated on a project-by-project basis, as the layout of your samples determines the box. For standard-shaped cardboard boxes, however, the module calculates the price straight away.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From one box. For a series intended for a distribution network, the price per box falls significantly, as the layout is only drawn up once.

What about the environmental aspect?

The cardboard scores 5 out of 5 and goes in the waste paper bin, whilst the felt is made from 60 per cent PET bottles. For a box that’s being posted, that’s the most eco-friendly design we have.

Description Sample boxes

If you send samples of your own product to customers, architects or engineering firms, sample boxes determine how that parcel arrives at their premises. Creafor designs the box to fit your samples: you provide the dimensions of a single sample and the number required, and we design the layout and build the box around it. This ensures nothing shifts about in transit and that the recipient can see your full range immediately upon opening. For the box itself, we use 1.7 mm single-wall corrugated cardboard or 3 mm single-wall corrugated cardboard, both PVC-free, or self-adhesive polypropylene if the box is opened and closed frequently. We cut the padding from felt, 60 per cent of which is made from PET bottles. If you need a box to fit your product itself, you’re better off with tailor-made box. If your range is available as individual plates, please see steel fans.

Materials for Sample boxes

The layout follows your samples

We design the compartments to fit the size and quantity of the items they’re meant to hold. That’s the whole job when it comes to a sample box: not the box itself, but what fits inside and how it stays in place.

Cut-out inlays in felt

Nine, 18 or 25 mm, made from 60 per cent PET bottles. The felt keeps the samples in place during transport.

Cardboard or self-adhesive paper

1.7 mm E-flute or 3 mm E-flute for a sturdier box, or self-adhesive foam in thicknesses ranging from 500 to 1800 µm. Both are PVC-free.

Format

  • Sheet E-wave up to 1600 at 2600 mm
  • A sheet of adhesive film measuring 80 by 120 cm
  • Wooden cases for when a heavier box is required

Good to know

  • Ecoscore: 5 out of 5 for cardboard
  • You can place additional orders, and we’ll adjust the layout if the product range changes
  • From a section in the order module
