Frequently asked questions about Squid window decorations

Can I see outside through the squid?

The fabric lets daylight through whilst preventing people from looking in. From the inside, the window remains light; from the outside, little can be seen. If you wish to maintain a clear view of the outside, choose one-way vision.

What is the difference between this and sandblast film?

Squid is a woven fabric that gives the window a coloured, fabric-like appearance. Sandblasted film is a vinyl film that gives the glass a matt finish, similar to sandblasted glass. Squid also provides sun protection, whilst sandblasted film is available in a wider range of printed designs.

Can a squid be hung outside?

No, this window covering is for indoor use. If you need something on the outside of the glass, you should use a film.

What colours are available?

Various colours are available. The best way to see which ones are currently in stock and how they’ll look with your interior is to look at the samples. Please ask us for them.

Can I fit it myself?

That’s possible, but self-adhesive window film is less forgiving than a standard sticker, and fitting it requires some expertise. For a neat finish, it’s best to have it done by a professional.

Does Creafor install it as well?

Yes. Our fitter will come to your home to fit the windows and will measure them in advance to ensure the dimensions are correct.

Can I order squid online?

This product is not listed in the ordering module, as the price depends on the dimensions, colour and installation. You will therefore need to request a quote for it.

How much does squid cost?

Squid is not listed in the ordering module, as the price depends on the size of your windows and the installation. Please provide us with the measurements, and we will give you a bespoke quote.

How many windows do you need to start work?

Even for a single window. For a façade with a row of windows, the team will come round in one go, which reduces the cost per window.

What is the largest size?

Limited to the width of the fabric roll. For a tall shop window, we work with panels and position the seam on a vertical post so that it is concealed.

Which should I choose: squid or sandblast film?

Squid is a fabric that blocks the view from outside and provides immediate sun protection, available in a colour of your choice. Sandblasted film gives the appearance of sandblasted glass and is the classic choice for office windows.

How do I clean squid?

Dust it off or vacuum it gently. As it is made of fabric, do not use a wet cloth or abrasive cleaners.

Description Squid window decoration

When you think of Squid window coverings, it’s usually for a window where you want to block the view in without sacrificing natural light. Creafor supplies this self-adhesive window fabric made to measure and installs it on site. Squid is a woven fabric, not a vinyl film, so the window retains a fabric-like appearance rather than a matt finish, and it is available in a range of colours. During the day, light enters whilst the sun’s glare is softened, whilst passers-by can see very little. This works well on a street-level office window, a living room window overlooking the pavement, and a shop window that doesn’t need to be fully open. The fabric is made in Belgium. If you’d like a print or a message on the window whilst still allowing a view through, take a look at one-way vision. If you’re mainly looking for frosted and opaque glass, you’ll find what you’re after at sandblast film.
