Frequently asked questions about road signs

How much does an on-site visit cost?

Nothing. We’ll pop round for free, have a look at where the signs need to go and take all the measurements. That way, there’ll be no confusion afterwards about the number, size or location.

Which material should I choose for outdoor use?

Dibond. This board is designed for signage that remains on display outdoors for a long time and is available in 2, 3 or 4 mm thicknesses. Forex is suitable for indoor use, whilst corrugated polypropylene is best for temporary displays.

Can a sign remain legible in the dark?

Yes, with phosphorescent film, also known as ‘glow-in-the-dark’ film. This is used for escape routes and emergency exits. For signs along a driveway, there is also reflective film, which glows when hit by headlights.

What is the difference between this and a signpost?

A signpost directs someone in a particular direction, across a site or area. A sign indicates or prohibits something on the spot: a zone, an emergency exit, a route. The materials are the same, but the content is not, and in practice they are often ordered together.

Should I choose a sign or a sticker?

That depends on the surface. On glass or a smooth door, a sticker is usually sufficient. If the sign needs to stand on its own, be hung from a post or attached to a rough wall, then you should use a plate.

How are the signs fixed in place?

With drill holes in the diameter you specify, or with mounting fittings such as a frame, a plinth, spacers or a hanging system. We will assess which solution is most suitable during our visit to your premises.

Do you put up the signs as well?

Yes. Creafor has its own installation team with a cherry picker, so even a sign high up on a façade or under a canopy can be installed without you having to find a second company to do the job.

Can all the signs be designed in line with our corporate identity?

Yes. We produce the entire range in the same colours and to the same design, from the signs outside in the car park to the signs on the rooms inside. As well as panels, we also supply stickers and cut-out letters, so that everything remains consistent.

How much does a set of road signs cost?

Signage boards are not available as a standard option in the ordering module, as the number, size and mounting method vary from building to building. We will come and take measurements free of charge and then provide a quote.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From a single plate. In practice, it involves a series, and the key thing is that all the plates come from the same sheet and the same grid.

What is the largest size?

Up to 2050 × 4050 mm in Dibond and 2050 × 3050 mm in Forex. However, signage rarely works well on a large scale: a series of small signs at eye level is easier to read than a large panel at the entrance.

Do the icons have to comply with a standard?

There are standardised pictograms for safety signage, and anyone required to follow them will usually know which ones from their own documentation or health and safety plan. Please let us know which set you need to use, and we will print those pictograms rather than our own version.

Description Signs

Are you looking for signage for your business or premises? Creafor will visit you free of charge and help you decide where to place each sign: where a visitor should turn off, which area is for forklift trucks only, where the emergency exit is, and which house rules should be displayed at the gate. This on-site advice is what sets us apart from an online shop, as it means we can determine in advance exactly how many signs you need, in what size and at what height. Only then do you choose the material: Dibond for outdoor use where signs need to remain in place for a long time, Forex for indoor use, and corrugated polypropylene for short-term installations. If the sign simply points the way to an entrance or a car park, then take a look at signposts. If you’re looking for a sign on glass or on a door, you’re better off with icon stickers.

Are road signs planned?

Please provide us with the plan or the dimensions, and tell us what needs to be included. We will assess the best options from a technical and budgetary perspective, and draw up a proposal covering design, production and installation.

Materials for Signs

A range in your corporate identity

Signage either works as a whole or it doesn’t. We therefore first establish the layout – using the same panel, the same format and the same position for the text – and only then do we add the content to each sign.

Dibond 2, 3 or 4 mm for long-term use

For signs belonging to the building. 3, 5 or 10 mm Forex for standard projects; 4 or 8 mm corrugated polypropylene for a site that will be cleared by the end of the weekend.

Legible without lighting

Phosphorescent film for an emergency exit that must be visible even during a power cut; it reflects light when illuminated by a lamp or a headlamp.
