Materials for Print finishing

For print finishing, we work on your supplied material. As a result, the supplied material must meet certain conditions to guarantee an optimal result. See the following conditions for a high-quality end result.

Carrier/laminate:

  • The quality of the carrier affects the quality of breeding.
  • Uncoated materials sometimes need two printing passes to achieve the desired result, depending on the absorbency.
  • The supplied material should be stacked flat, without waves at the edges. The stack should be ready for an automatic insertion table. Take care with plasticised sheets, also for the plastic edge.
  • Make sure the surface tension is at least 36 dyne/cm, you can perform this quality control with Corona markers (available through us).
  • Pay attention to the layout of the offset work when printing at high speeds. If it staggers, it is consequently impossible to fit the finish perfectly to the print.

Inks:

  • Make sure the printing is always dry, you can see this by treating it with benzene.
  • Only use fully oxidative-drying inks, i.e. no baking-fresh yet overnight inks, as the complete drying of these inks can take longer and interfere with good adhesion of the finishing.
  • Use inks with all authenticities, especially spirit and alkali, to avoid possible discolouration due to pigment deterioration. The inks should therefore meet DIN 16 524 standards and resist.
  • Antismet powder is highly discouraged, applying a water-based primer is a very good solution.
  • If offset varnish, matt or glossy, is nevertheless applied locally, ensure that it does not contain waxes or silicones.
  • Avoid metallic inks as these usually do not produce good adhesion; if metallic inks must be used, use a "low VOC" type.
