Frequently asked questions about frontlit banners

What is the difference between a front-lit banner and a mesh banner?

Frontlit is a solid fabric, so the image remains rich and the contrast is at its deepest. Mesh is perforated and allows the wind to pass through, making it safer to hang in windy areas and at height, but the image appears slightly less contrasty. Choose frontlit for a sheltered façade, and mesh for an exposed location.

Can a front-lit banner be hung outdoors?

Yes, that’s the standard application. The PVC fabric is weather-resistant and is used for façade advertising, Nadar banners, event advertising and other outdoor advertising. It can also be used indoors.

Which finish should I choose?

A tunnel hem if the fabric is slipped over a tube or cord, rings if you attach it to a fence or hooks using tensioners, and piping if the fabric is stretched across a frame.

How many centimetres apart are the rings?

You can choose a ring size of 20, 25, 30, 40 or 50 cm. If the ring sizes are already specified in your file, we will follow those specifications.

How big can my banner be?

The fabric is made entirely to measure and there is no limit to its width, so even long façade panels are possible. Please specify in your enquiry how you would like the fabric to hang, and we will tailor the finish accordingly.

Will you put up the banner?

Yes. Creafor can install or replace the banner at any height, with or without a frame. This is particularly useful when the banner is hung above a shop front or high up on a façade.

Is frontlit PVC-free?

No. Frontlit is a PVC banner with an Ecoscore of 1. If you require a PVC-free banner, please choose the PVC-free Airtex banner, which is available in the same finishes.

What is a front-lit banner most commonly used for?

For façade advertising, roadside banners and event advertising. It is the standard outdoor banner fabric, and most of the banners you see hanging by the roadside are made from this material.

How much does a front-lit banner cost?

Banners are available in our ordering module, where you can enter your own dimensions and quantity and see the price straight away. For non-standard finishes, we will provide a bespoke quote.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From a single piece. A single piece of fabric for a façade or a building site is also possible.

How long does a front-lit banner last when used outdoors?

That depends mainly on the location and the wind. A banner on a sheltered façade will last much longer than one on an open building site. Tell us where it’s going to be hung, and we’ll advise you on the finish that’s best suited to it.

What products are available that are PVC-free?

For a solid banner, this is the PVC-free frontlit; for a perforated banner, it is the PVC-free mesh. Both achieve an Ecoscore of 4 out of 5, compared with 1 for standard PVC banners.

What happens to the cloth after use?

Frontlit is made of PVC and falls into that category. That is precisely why clients with an environmental policy are increasingly asking for the PVC-free version.

Description Frontlit banner

If your message is displayed on a building façade, at a building site or on a Nadar fence, a front-lit banner is the standard choice. The fabric is opaque, so the print remains rich and the image is displayed in the deepest colours. However, this opaque fabric does catch the wind. If your banner is in an open area or high up on a building façade, then consider a mesh banner, as this allows the wind to pass through and, in return, offers slightly less contrast. Frontlit is a 500-gram weather-resistant PVC, fully made to measure and with no restrictions on width. You can choose the finish when placing your order: a tunnel hem at the top and bottom or on the left and right, rings at regular intervals, or piping. If you already have a frame in place, simply order the same fabric with piping.

Materials for Frontlit banner

Frontlit PVC, 500 grams

The dense fabric. The print remains rich and the image is rendered in the deepest colours. That dense weave does catch the wind, so in an open space or high up on a façade, you’ll want to opt for mesh.

Fully bespoke, with no width restrictions. This means a full-length façade is supplied in a single piece, with no visible joints.

Finishing the edge

  • Hole-punched at intervals of 20, 25, 30, 40 or 50 cm, or according to your file
  • Tunnel zoom at the top and bottom, or on the left and right
  • Heading straps for a canvas stretched over a frame

Where it’s kept

  • Printed in Belgium, suitable for indoor and outdoor use
  • We can fit or replace the fabric at any height, with or without a frame
  • Ecoscore 1 out of 5 and not PVC-free, as frontlit is a PVC fabric
