Frequently asked questions about cast vinyl stickers

How long does moulded cast vinyl last when used outdoors?

Up to 7 years. That is what it says in the product data sheet for the cast vinyl we use, and the options in the ordering module are also labelled as ‘7 years’.

When do I need a cast, and when is a polymer splint sufficient?

Look at the shape of the substrate. Flat or slightly curved: polymer, up to 5 years. Curved in two directions, with ridges, hollows or convex sections: cast, up to 7 years. For short-term use on flat surfaces, monomer remains the most cost-effective choice, lasting 2 years.

What does ‘thermally deformable’ mean?

The film is heated during application. This causes it to stretch and take on the shape of the surface, and once it has cooled, it does not return to a flat state. That is why a full wrap looks seamless and why the film remains in place within a recess.

Will the colour stay the same all these years?

Cast vinyl is resistant to UV radiation, water and chemical agents. Furthermore, all six versions available in the ordering module feature a laminate over the print, available in either a matt or gloss finish.

How does the installation process work?

We carry out this work in Lokeren or at your premises, at an agreed time, using our own team. Please note: the vehicle must be clean, dry and warm, otherwise the film will not adhere properly. That is why we prefer to work indoors.

Can you produce the design?

Yes. Based on your briefing, our design team will produce a visual proposal, and it will only go into production once you are satisfied with it. If you supply a file yourself, we will check the dimensions, outline, bleed and transparency flattening.

Which variants are available in the ordering module?

Six: straight-cut, die-cut or kiss-cut, each with a matt or gloss laminate. If your order differs from this – for example, a full wrap or a fleet of vehicles – please request a quote and we will take the measurements.

How much does moulded cast vinyl cost?

‘Cast’ is listed as an option in our ordering module, where you can enter your own size and quantity and see the price straight away. For a full vehicle wrap, we provide a bespoke quote, as the cost of fitting is also a factor.

What is the minimum order quantity?

From one item upwards. A single car is the most common request.

What is the largest size?

Unlimited in length. For a van or a lorry, we work with strips, with the seam positioned where it is concealed by the shape.

How do I remove cast vinyl after several years?

Using heat and gentle pulling. After seven years in the sun, the film has become stiffer, so it tears into pieces. Our team does the same, using the right heat source, so that the paint underneath remains undamaged.

What about the environmental aspect?

Cast is made of PVC and is collected as such. It does, however, last the longest of all films, so in terms of cost per year of use, it is the most economical choice amongst vinyls.

Description Cast vinyl decal

If the surface is uneven, with bulges, ridges and hollows, standard vinyl won’t adhere properly. A cast vinyl sticker, however, will, and Creafor uses this material for full wraps, colour wraps and for graphics that need to follow the contours of a car body or housing. Cast vinyl can be thermally moulded, allowing it to conform to a 3D-shaped surface and retain that shape. This ensures a seamless finish, even around a wing mirror housing, a bumper or a door handle. Outdoors, it lasts up to 7 years and is resistant to UV rays, water and chemical exposure. If your surface is flat or, at most, slightly curved, then a polymer sticker at 5 years old and you don’t need the mouldability of cast.
