The eco-score is our own assessment of the material’s environmental footprint, on a scale of 1 to 5. It says nothing about quality, and the material must be recycled under the right conditions. Several materials may be listed on this page. We list the material with the lowest environmental footprint, not an average.

Frequently asked questions about steel fans

How are the steel components held together?

Using a fingernail or a finger to flick through all the pictures. The customer unfolds the fan, looks at the samples side by side and then folds it back up again.

Can I have my own materials processed?

Yes, as long as it can be printed on. For example, if you supply your own film or sheet, we will cut the shapes out of it and print them as part of the run.

What technique is used to print on the steel?

Screen-printed. That is the finish available for the steel fans in our range. We carry out the screen-printing in-house, so there is no other supplier involved between one batch and the next.

Can a fan be used outdoors?

Priplak, Synaps and PVC film are all suitable for outdoor use. Sulphate board is not; it’s for indoor use only.

Is there a PVC-free option?

Two, in fact. Priplak is recycled as polypropylene, Synaps as polyester, and both are PVC-free. PVC film is not; you should only choose it if your design calls for that particular film.

What is the difference between this and a steel box?

A sample fan holds thin sheets at a single point and fits into a bag or a drawer. A sample box is the case in which a complete range of thicker or larger samples is carried, with a cut-out interior.

How big can a fan blade be?

That depends on the material. Priplak comes in sheets measuring 80 x 120 cm, sulphate board in sheets measuring 75 x 105 cm and Synaps on a roll 127 cm wide. A fan leaf is considerably smaller than that.

Can I order the same fan later?

Yes, and we’ll keep track of your layout. If a fabric in the range changes, we’ll replace just that one sheet in the layout and the rest will stay the same.

How much does a steel fan cost?

Sample fans are not listed in the ordering module, as the number of blades, the material and the finish vary from job to job. Please let us know how many samples you require, and we will work out the cost for you.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Starting with a small batch for a sample. In practice, this involves a run for a sales team or a group of distributors, in which case the price drops significantly.

Description Steel fans

If you want to showcase your colours or materials without having to lug a box around, colour fans are the smallest format Creafor produces for this purpose. The individual cards are attached to a pin or an eyelet, so that your customer can unfold them like a fan and then fold them back up again. You choose the material to suit the application. Priplak on polypropylene, in thicknesses from 500 to 1800 µm, is sturdy and PVC-free. Synaps, in 150 or 200 µm, is thinner and also PVC-free. 300-grams sulphate board is the most cost-effective option, and you should only choose PVC film if the sample specifically requires it, as it is not PVC-free. If you supply your own printable material, we will process it into fan pages. Printing is carried out using screen printing. If you need to take the full range with you to a meeting, please see the steel box.

Materials for Steel fans

Your own material, provided it is printable

That is what distinguishes a steel fan from an ordinary fan: the blades show the actual material, not an image of it. We print whatever you supply.

Or our carriers

Priplak in thicknesses ranging from 500 to 1,800 µm, Synaps in 150 or 200 µm, PVC film in thicknesses ranging from 200 to 900 µm, or 300-gram sulphate board.

Held together by a fingernail or an eye

A nail for a fan that stays open, an eye for a set hanging on a hook.

  • Screen printing
  • Consistent colours, which are more important in a colour chart than photo quality
